Manifestation vs Wishful Thinking: Understanding the Difference

Manifestation and wishful thinking are two concepts that are often confused with one another. While they may seem similar on the surface, there is a huge difference between the two. Understanding this difference is important if you want to effectively manifest your desires into reality.

Wishful thinking is something I use to often use. I would become discouraged by thinking manifestation didn’t work. It was when I sat with myself, studied and learned that wishful thinking is a term that refers to the act of hoping or wishing for something without taking any concrete action to make it happen. For example, if someone is hoping to win the lottery but doesn’t buy a ticket, they are engaging in wishful thinking. Wishful thinking is passive and doesn’t involve any effort or action on the part of the person doing the wishing. I was thinking of manifestation all wrong!

Manifestation, on the other hand, is the process of bringing your desires into reality through the power of your thoughts and actions. It involves actively working towards your goals, visualizing your desired outcome, and taking the necessary steps to make it happen.

While wishful thinking may provide temporary comfort and hope, it doesn’t create lasting change or bring your desires into reality. Manifestation, on the other hand, empowers you to take control of your life and make your dreams a reality.

While coming to the realization of the difference between wishful thinking and manifestation I created a fool proof guide that helps to understand the true process of manifestation and how it can work for anyone:

steps to make manifestation easier

  1. Action: Manifestation requires action. To manifest your desires, you must take action towards your goals and work to bring them into reality.
  2. Mindset: Manifestation requires a positive and empowering mindset.
  3. Visualization: Manifestation involves visualizing your desired outcome and creating a clear picture in your mind of what you want to achieve.
  4. Self-Awareness: Manifestation requires a deep level of self-awareness and introspection, while wishful thinking may come from a place of lack or desperation.

It’s important to understand that manifesting your desires is a process that takes time, effort, and dedication. It’s not something that happens overnight or without action. I also learned that the hard way things I manifested 3 years ago are coming into my reality today.

By understanding the difference between manifestation and wishful thinking, you can take the necessary steps to create the life you truly desire. So, take action, stay positive, and visualize your dreams into reality.

I created a 6-month manifestation planner, guide, and journal that breaks down what you need to do each day to become the best version of yourself and manifest the life you desire. Read more about it here.
