Costa Rica is a beautiful country it has a small town called La Fortuna located right next to Arenal volcano this place is truly unique and special. But, it’s so small that there are very limited places to find good food. Trust me, while on this trip there were a lot of misses and wasted money. I figured I’d help you out with a few places I really enjoyed while there. I put together a guide on the best places to eat in La Fortuna, Costa Rica.
Best Places to Eat in La Fortuna, Costa Rica
#1 My Coffee Restaurant
If you’re on a budget, My Coffee Restaurant is one of the more expensive breakfast places you’ll find in La Fortuna. A meal costs roughly $10 a person but it’s filling and as close to an American breakfast you will get. They offer traditional options like pancakes, eggs, and french toast. Also, let me just say the coffee is amazing Matthew and I ended up here every morning trying different flavors.
#2 Lava Lounge Bar & Grill
Lava Lounge is one of the hottest places in town. The food is delicious with great variety and the drinks are good. At night they have music from a live band and a small dance floor. It’s definitely the life of the town on the weekends. They also offer a wide breakfast menu with breakfast quesadillas, bacon, and stuffed french toast. As you go through the town of La Fortuna you will notice a lot of stray animals, mostly dogs. As a fur mom, what I loved most about this restaurant is if you purchase a t-shirt for $25 the proceeds medicine, vaccines, and food to take care of the dogs in the community.
#3 Las Brasitas
Las Brasitas was less than a 1-minute walk from my Airbnb so it was the perfect place to stop for dinner one night and I was not a disappointment. After a long day, I was starving and ordered appetizers, drinks, and dinner. The portion size here is huge one meal can share for two people. All the food is freshly made to order so it does take a bit to receive your dish but the freshness of the meal makes the experience that much more delightful especially if you are hungry!
